Call for annual Theatre Festival Submissions

We would like to let you know that the
REVOLUTION Theatre Company is currently accepting submissions for
the “20th annual Abbie Hoffman died for our Sins” theatre festival,
this coming August in Chicago.
We are looking for plays that are 15 to 20 minutes long and
one acts that would run up to 45 minutes in length.

We currently are looking for a

Executive Producer to assist in the ongoing development of this the theatre and its subsidiaries. Skills: Ability to work pro-actively, independently, and enthusiastically in contacting, meeting, and following-thru with both established and new contacts, potential investors, and theater professionals both in Chicago and around the USA. Comfortable using own home-office set-up to start, and attending numerous Chicago meetings, attending rehearsals, and various performances of the scheduled shows throughout the City. Understanding of theater development and production from both artistic and business perspectives. Compensation is possible “points” in the show and generous commissions.

Development Director to work closely with the Executive Director and the Board in soliciting individual contributions, foundation, corporate and government grants, event sponsorships, producing benefit events and planned giving, endowment and capital campaigns.Must be business minded, proactive, creative, optimistic, positive, good natured, mature, organized, friendly, goal-and team-oriented. Casting Director which will be responsible for assisting the Artistic Director in casting actors for the theatre shows, our independent film subsidiary, as well as casting for contract work with other theatres and film entities in the Chicago community. Literary Director is responsible assisting the Artistic Director in locating material that is in line with our mission statement, that is to be used for our main shows, our staged reading series, and our annual festival submissions.

Director of Marketing is responsible for a comprehensive marketing, promotion, press and public relations program that supports the mission of the Theatre. Responsible for developing and executing a marketing plan, incorporating market analysis, objectives, strategies and tactics including media selection.

Managing Director that is business minded, proactive, creative, optimistic, positive, good natured, mature, organized, friendly, goal- and team-oriented applicants for the position of Managing Director. Pay is contingent upon grants and company profits year round. Unique opportunity to make your mark on a new and growing organization. Responsibilities include independent efforts to ensure REVOLUTION Theatre Company’s fiscal viability, as well as supportive collaboration with the artistic and operational directors, the board of directors, and a growing roster of affiliate artists. Specific tasks to be based on the creativity and imagination of the candidate; general tasks include financial record keeping, ongoing grant application processes, meetings with donors, organizational meetings, formation of short and long term budget plans. Prior experience and familiarity in theater preferred. Computer literacy in a variety of programs preferred.

We are back! for a successful 2008 and beyond…..

Hello concerned REVOLUTION Theatre Company fans,

We are back for 2008, we had a good ending to last year with our last show of our Staged Reading Series at the now “under construction” Red Lion Pub. Unfortunately will not be able to continue our Series there because of construction, a new venue is being located, details to follow.

We had great success with shows in 2007 in the annual “Abbie Hoffman died for your Sins” theatre festival, something we are looking forward in participating in again for our 6th straight year in helping celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the festival.

We are also, looking for some dedicated people to join us in various management and support positions, details will be forthcoming.

Also, this year we are looking forward to mounting a couple of full productions, details are to be announced.

“DISCRETION” chosen as next show of our Staged Reading Series and last show at the famous Red Lion

We have chosen the play “DISCRETION”, written by Terry Roueche

Terry has become sort of a regular with us because we enjoy his work so much

that we have mounted several of his plays in the past “Parade Day”, “ColdKill”, and “Farewell Party”.

Unfortunately this will be our last play at The famous Red Lion Pub, they will be closing their doors at the end of August, for what you would call total overhaul or re-build from the ground up, they expect to open back up in a year. We appreciate Collin and Joe and the rest of the Red Lion Pub staff allowing us the usage of their place these last 5years and wish them the best.

As you know here in Chicago, theatre’s change venues constantly so we will have to move with the times. The second half of our 5th Anniversary Staged Reading Series 2007 / 2008 will continue in the fall at a brand new venue, to be announced.

VALU-MART was a success for SRS – 5th Anniversary Season

VALU-MART was a success, being the first show of our Staged Reading Series 2007 / 2008 – 5th Anniversary Season.

Although, the turn out was alot better for saturday than it was for sunday, with understanding that there had been alot going on in our beloved city i.e. “Pride Fest, the Sox and Cubs playing each, as well as all the other attractions in the city this time of year, but nevertheless it was a success.

We thank everyone that came out and supported us.
